A global P2P currency exchange marketplace. NEPAY's architecture generalized to every currency corridor.
Every day, millions of travelers land in a foreign country holding the wrong currency. The existing solutions are all broken:
LOP's insight: For every traveler leaving Tokyo for London with JPY, there's another leaving London for Tokyo with GBP. They are each other's perfect counterparty. The platform just needs to find them and facilitate the swap.
Step 1 — Post
A traveler creates a listing: "I have EUR 2,000, flying FRA→BKK on Nov 13, want THB." They set their desired exchange rate (typically mid-market or within 0.5% of it).
Step 2 — Match
LOP's matching engine scans all active listings for a complementary pair: same corridor, opposite direction, compatible amounts and timing. Both parties are notified.
Step 3 — Lock
Both travelers confirm. Each deposits their funds into LOP's escrow (or shows proof of funds for in-person swap). The rate is locked.
Step 4 — Swap
In-person: meet at the airport gate/lounge/hall. Confirm the swap in the app. Funds released from escrow.
Digital (trusted users): LOP facilitates digital transfer through partner payment rails.
Step 5 — Rate
Both travelers rate each other. Trust scores compound. Higher trust → access to higher swap limits and digital handoff.
1. Swap fee (0.5%) — Core revenue
Every completed match generates a 0.5% fee split evenly between both parties. At mid-market rates, this is 5–10x cheaper than airport kiosks and 3–5x cheaper than bank tellers. The traveler saves $30–80 on a $1,000 swap compared to airport rates.
Global TAM: 1.4 billion international tourist arrivals annually. Average cash need per trip: ~$600. If LOP captures 0.1% of global tourist arrivals = 1.4M swaps/year × $600 avg × 0.5% fee = $4.2M/year revenue.
2. Trust Score Staking — Premium matching
Travelers can stake a small deposit (e.g., $20) to boost their listing to the top of match results. If they complete the swap, the stake returns. If they no-show, it compensates the other party. This creates accountability and a revenue stream from unclaimed stakes.
3. Airport partnership placements
Airports pay LOP to designate a "LOP Swap Zone" — a dedicated meeting point for travelers to exchange. LOP gets visibility, the airport gets foot traffic and differentiation. Annual partnership fee per airport: $5K–$25K depending on size.
4. Premium membership — "LOP Passport"
Frequent travelers pay $9.99/month or $99/year for: zero swap fees (capped at $5K/month), priority matching, digital handoff, priority support, and travel insurance add-on. Targeting remote workers, digital nomads, and frequent flyers.
5. Cross-border data insights
Anonymized, aggregated data on traveler currency flows has real value to tourism boards, airlines, and fintech companies. "Which corridors have the most mismatch between supply and demand?" — this data helps airlines price routes and banks decide where to open exchange desks.
Single swap:
Traveler acquisition:
Network effect: More travelers → more listings → tighter match time → better rates → more travelers. Each new user makes the platform more valuable for everyone else. Classic two-sided marketplace dynamics.
The main objection for P2P currency exchange is trust. LOP addresses it in layers:
LOP is structured as a matching platform, not a money transmitter. The actual currency exchange happens between two individuals. LOP never takes custody of both currencies simultaneously (escrow holds one side at a time, released on confirmation).
The "NEPAY → LOP" expansion works because the matching engine is currency-agnostic. NEPAY solves a specific corridor (CNY↔NPR) with deep local partnerships. LOP generalizes the match engine to handle any pair, using NEPAY as the liquidity anchor for the China-Nepal corridor.
Each corridor builds liquidity → match engine improves → spreads tighten → network grows.
